Christian Church of Wilkinsburg:
Architectural Vision

The “Wilkinsburg ‘The City of Churches’ Presents A Tour of Churches” brochure from 1999 describes:

The present building was dedicated on October 8, 1916. The exterior is Colonial Georgian architecture and the interior continues this motif. Its simple lines are emblematic of sincerity and purity associated with worship. The focus at the center of the chancel is the communion table, which speaks of eternal fellowship with God rather than the pulpit suggesting the intellectual side of religion. On the west side of this beautiful sanctuary is the baptistry where souls may be buried and raised with Christ in baptism. On the west side of the chancel we have the Lectern for the open Bible and on the east side the Pulpit for the prophetic in religion.
